We’ve been very busy eating all the holiday snacks and drinking all the holiday drinks at the Chunn home. That's why we're so late in getting this post written. Ha!
One of our favorite holiday snacks is roasted nuts. You name it, we've roasted it. At the top of that list is pecans. First of all, they're local to our southern region and plentiful. They go in all kinds of snacks and deserts in the south. This recipe in particular, is sure to satisfy your snack cravings whether you are looking for sweet or savory, sweet or salty, yet not too sweet. It's simple too.
3 ingredients. That's it!
1/2 stick salted butter (don't substitute that margarine crap, go all in)
1 Tbsp Pickin' N Grillin' Sweet Buttery Pecan Rub
2 1/2 cups pecans
You want pretty pecan halves for this recipe if you can get them.
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
Melt your butter, stir in your Sweet Buttery Pecan Rub until mostly dissolved, add pecans and toss until evenly coated.
Place in a single layer on a baking cookie sheet.
Bake at 325 for 15-18 minutes or until they become golden in color.
Remove from oven and allow them to cool for 3-5 minutes prior to placing in a jar or other sealed container. (Or you can do like us, and eat them straight off the cookie sheet -- they don't last long)
Remember they will continue to cook after removed from oven, and will become super crispy.
PRO TIP: These make beautiful little gifts placed in a holiday tin for neighbors and friends.
Alternate cooking method:
Once your ingredients are mixed and pecans are tossed in the mixture, place on a cookie sheet in a single layer, and while you are smoking your holiday meat entree, place the cookie sheet on the top rack of your smoker, cook at 250 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until crispy. Now we're talking! Smoky, salty, sweet, buttery crunchiness that is sure to satisfy all your snack desires!
